greetings from the craft fair

This is my booth at the Artisans of the Cumberland Craft Fair. I know, the lighting is horrible... lovely fluorescent bulbs. I have had such a good time at this craft fair meeting all my fellow bloggers. I love reading other's blogs, and seeing how creative others can be. But meeting them in person is great.  I've gotten several custom orders from the fair, so now I'll have something to do on my Thanksgiving break. And to think,  I was worried about what I would do with all that free time. :)

This is Kaylee. She is a student in my art class at Bobby Ray Elementary. She came by to visit me last night, and I let her paint her own picture. She wants to be an art teacher when she grows up... a girl after my own heart. :)

If you see anything you like, let me know. Remember, I do custom orders as well!

Lotus the Lamb

I've been working like crazy to get ready for the Artisans of the Cumberland Craft Fair, which is coming up next weekend...yikes!  Here are a couple of new things I've just added to my "finished" pile:
Little Lotus the Lamb is the newest addition the the inhabitants of Willowbird Woods. Isn't she cute?

This and other signs will also be for sale at my craft fair booth. I love this sign. I kind of want to keep it, but we will part if we must. ;)

And the Winner is...

Before I announce the winner, I want to thank everyone who became a follower, or a fan, or posted, or put my button on their blog, or emailed......
I had this giveaway to get the word out about my blog, but one of the fringe benefits was getting to know new people and new blogs. I love seeing other's creativity at work :).
Now... on to the winner.
I did this the old fashioned way, that is to say, all by hand. I wrote down all the names of people who entered (if you did multiple things, I wrote your name down for each one), and put all of them in a mug. I then shook up the mug, closed my eyes, and picked up one paper. (no fancy internet name picker here).

And the name that came out was....
Jennifer Stubblefield!

Jennifer, I'll contact you about your prize. Yay!

This was fun, I'll have to do another giveaway sometime....

Nevermore on his Thorny Perch

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling, By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore. "Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the Nightly shore
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

-taken from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe

Happy Halloween!
(remember to check back after 10:00 pm tomorrow night to see the winner of my giveaway.)

I'm having a giveaway!

I'm having a giveaway to "officially" start my blog. The winner will receive either a wooden sign or a 8"x10" canvas of their choice (personalization is included if wanted). This picture is just one example; should you win, you can pick any of my designs for your canvas or sign.
The giveaway starts today, and will end on October 31st at 10:00 p.m.
Here are the ways you can enter (each one you do gives you one entry):

1. Do a post on your blog letting everyone know about this giveaway with a link to my  blog.  Leave a comment on my blog letting me know you have done this, along with your blog address.

2. Add the Willowbird Woods button to your blog's sidebar. Again, leave a comment and your blog address on my blog.

3. Become a follower of my blog.

4. Become a fan of Willowbird Woods on facebook.

5. Send this post in an e-mail to at least five people (add my email as a carbon copy: stephaniedoak@hotmail.com. Don't forget this step or I won't know you have done this).
An easy way to do this is to click the envelope icon at the bottom of this post.

6. Of course, if you buy a painting, you will be entered in the giveaway (I will give two entries for this).

Remember, the giveaway ends on October 31st at 10:00 p.m. Check my blog on November 1st to find out who the winner is. Happy entries!

A button for my blog

I've been working in photoshop tonight on a button for my blog. Hopefully I can get it to work on here. I've got the image part figured out, but haven't yet discovered how to put the html code on here without my computer reading it and turning it into another image of my button... does anyone know how to do this?

By the way...pretty soon I'll be having a give-away to "officially" kick off my blog {thanks, Kim C., for the idea :) }, so be on the lookout! :)
